The SDK licensing process consists of two stages:
Development license - this needs to be purchased as a time-based developer license (e.g. 3, 6 or 12 months) in order to be able to work on your application. This is usually done on one machine so one license should be enough (depending on how many developers are working on it simultaneously). The developer license requires an internet connection at every reboot, and will expire after a pre-defined amount of time.
Release license - once you are ready to release your application, you need to purchase a time-based release/production license which is sold by volume of cameras. The release license can either be time-based (minimum purchase duration is 1 year per license) or lifetime (no expiration date).
The time-based release license requires an internet connection at every reboot, and will expire after a pre-defined amount of time. The lifetime release license requires only one-time activation via internet to activate. After that, the software can run offline for the lifetime of the device (machine bound license).
